My First Love Letter for My Jesus
How sweet the bitterness of life,
the sweetness of a journey!
It’s hard and rough and lonely and long,
and yet the Cross I pick up—
The Cross aflame I picked up
Still You were there right by my side
There in the flames of fire—
in the Refiner’s fire
You are my comforter and brook,
You are Life in the warrior’s journey
Without You, I died…died of thirst,
in the heat of this scorching world—
The parching heat of the world.
You knew my need; I need the Cross
The Cross was my own Cross—
My cross is just what I need.
My New Life begins in my New Cross,
New Purpose found, New Image.
Upon my cross new schooling begins,
With all hope in Your Cross—
Resting upon Your Cross.
In Your Cross, my cross is borne.
There, my New Life begins—
Mine, and many others!
