I’ve heard it said that grace shines a light on our brokenness, but that same grace puts us back together. I volunteer with a ministry that writes to women in jail about God’s grace, and we let them know how much He loves them. I remember in my own life when I was struggling with some hard issues a number of years back; I was sitting in my living room crying out to the Lord and asking Him if he sees me. A few days later, a prophetic woman who I had only been introduced to a few weeks earlier contacted me through a family member; and said she had been praying for me and was prompted by the Holy Spirit to tell me the Lord sees me. You can imagine the crocodile tears I shed, but more importantly, those words changed my life. When we write our women in the jail we are letting them know God has not forgotten them and He sees them. We encourage them through the Holy Spirit by pointing them to the truth of God’s Word. It is an honor and a blessing to encourage these women that are broken and give them hope, just as Jeremiah 29:11 states: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I pray that one day these women will say as I did, God’s Words changed my life.
