I grew up in a Christian family, so I was surrounded by God and the Church from the very beginning. I was a preacher’s kid and the oldest of nine. To me it seems like I was in church all the time. I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior during my teenage years during a youth camp meeting. As I grew older, I struggled with the Bible verse Romans 7:19 “ I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway”. I realized that I had not completely trusted God and that sin separated me from God. I remember one Sunday morning when the pastor preached on that verse and I knew it was meant for me. That day I asked God to forgive me of my sins and asked Him to fill me with the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13). The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, reminding me of the important things I should do and also guides me in my walk with God. I asked Jesus to take control of my life and I have been serving Him every since. He has given me fulfillment and purpose and joy. Proverbs 3:[5] Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 8-9 (NASB)
